Announcing an Upcoming Pricing Change
Announcing an Upcoming Pricing Change Since 2006 weve been trying to figure out how to provide value to you. the job seeker. Well, the person who cares about their career whether you are in a job search now, or soon will be. Or, the person who is fine but knows that nothing is secure, and wants to get prepared. Weve added features, weve lowered prices, weve added video tutorials, weve offered bundles, we invested in the mobile app, and right now I have a team of developers who are all working on very awesome features that should be rolled out in the next few months. But theres always more we can do to add value to you. I want to provide a suite of tools to the job seeker that no other company comes close to that is tools, education, opportunities, etc. And I want to do it in such a way that its a no-brainer I want this to be THE TOOL for your job search AND career management now, and until you retire! I want JibberJobber to be your place to go to organize your job search, improve your network relationships, and learn about career management. I want you to be more empowered and in control than I was when I lost my job in 2006. We will continue to invest. While Ive been on holiday in Europe (holiday means a long vacation, which is a foreign concept to people in the U.S.) Ive been thinking a lot about the direction to move. Do we invest in A, or B, or C? What will be best for YOU? What will be best for the longevity of JibberJobber? In the last almost-three weeks that Ive had to ponder this, Ive come to a realization: Its time to change the prices. In fact, I have a developer that has spent the last almost-two months simplifying the upgrade page and process, making it easier to upgrade, and removing some confusion. Last week I had some quiet time and I was really contemplating this and I felt that it was time to further simplify the pricing. In the past weve had three levels (Free, Silver, Premium), and you could choose from monthly, three months, six months, 12 months, 24 months, and lifetime. That was too many choices (3*6=18) and when we simplified it (removed silver level, to have only 12 remaining choices) our upgrades increased. We also changed our one year upgrade from $99, which represented a $20 savings, to $60, which represented a 50% savings. We saw another big increase in upgrades. Its time to do it again. Not too long ago I announced that I was going to beef up the video library, and make it a netflix-style payment plan. That is, you could get ALL of my career management videos for $10/month, or you could get them for discounts if you (a) got them for a year, or (b) bundled it with JibberJobber Premium (another $60/year). The total package of everything I had to offer was $120: $60 for JibberJobber for a year + $60 for the JibberJobber Video Library for a year. $120 a month. The inspiration I got last week was to go back to the $60/year price, and include both the JibberJobber app as well as the video library. My team is working on this right now so it will be automated. If you want to upgrade now and get both, just do a one year JibberJobber upgrade ($60) and well add the video library access on the backend. This will simplify your choices and the interface, and it will be a lot lighter on your pocketbook. Why are we doing this? Because of volume. We have enough signups each month that it makes sense. If we get enough conversions at this discounted rate, well keep doing it. As long as it makes sense, we all help one another get the discounts. If it doesnt work out then well go back to regular pricing ($60 + $60), but I think this is going to work. So there you go I wrote this while sitting in a hotel lobby near Paris, waiting to leave for the airport. I hope it makes sense. If you are willing to support our mission of helping job seekers land a role, and anyone who cares about their career have better career management, get a one year upgrade. Tell your friends. Advocate for us at job clubs, networking groups, online, even to family! What is our commitment to you? My team will continue to work on projects to make your JibberJobber, job search, career management, and networking experiences better, richer, more effective. I feel like we have SO MUCH work to do. I feel like we are moving SLOW. But I have a team of people who care about you, and they care about JibberJobber. And theyll continue to work with them to make JibberJobber what it should be. My commitment is that, when I get back to my home office (later this month, I still have to spend time in Rome and Barcelona on my holiday), I will sit down and crank out the videos. I will build an awesome video library for you, focusing on job search, networking, social tools (especially LinkedIn), and even go into entrepreneurship and things to do to make you a better employee this video library is going to be awesome! The video library alone will be worth more than the $60 a year, but I feel like adding the JibberJobber networking tool to it will really empower you. So there you go a preannouncement because it hasnt been programmed in yet, but it will be soon. Email me (Jason@JibberJobber.com) or Liz (Lizbeth@JibberJobber.com) if you are ready to get this awesome deal. (If you have upgraded in the last year, well include the video library just email us your username and well expedite it for you). NOTE: Of course, we will still have the very powerful and functional free level. Five Things You Can Do to Grow Your EQ - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Five Things You Can Do to Grow Your EQ - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career So, you think youve got a low EQ? Have you ever been told that something you said was insensitive? Have you ever been in a situation where no matter what you said would come off as insincere or contrived? Have you ever thought about something after youve already said it and wished you could take it back? If you answered yes to any of these you may have a low EQ. Fear not ⦠here are five things you can do to bump up your EQ. All is not lost. Of course, everyone has moments of insensitivity, but they dont need to be the end of you or of your career. Read on for a few EQ development tips. Also, please share your best stories about EQ in the comments. One of my goals over the past 4 years with this blog is to help people stand out in their careers. One critical success factor for your career management and development is having a well developed EQ. Taking the time to understand what EQ is and what it is not is worth your time. In order for you to engage your emotional intelligence, you must also be able use your emotions to make constructive decisions about your behavior. What is EQ? The seminal book âEmotional Intelligenceâ by Daniel Goleman talked about EQ and how to both rational and emotional decisions shape our destiny. He highlighted what an EQ is and what it does for us as human beings. If you have not read the book I highly recommend it. If you have read the book Id love to hear from you in the comments about how EQ has helped you stand out in your career. What EQ isnt? There are a lot of things that EQ isnt. One of them is that EQ is not directly correlated to IQ. There are some amazingly sensitive individuals that may not be known for having a high IQ, but they can empathize and sympathize to an incredible degree. The point is ⦠IQ and EQ are not always correlated. However, as weve seen in some of the leaders of large corporations they often have high degrees of both EQ and IQ. One example is Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. In case you donât remember he made some incredibly insensitive comments about women early on in his tenure as CEO. âwomen should trust âkarmaâ instead of asking for pay raises.â ~ Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella He had the wherewithal and the IQ to understand what he said was insensitive. He made an adjustment, he made an apology, he made amends and put the company (and to be honest) his career back on track. He showed he did have an EQ that could adapt and adjust when he knew he erred. But, I just tell it like it is! There is a difference between egotistical, overbearing and bullying behavior and a civil meaningful discourse. Generally you know what when you see it! There is a huge difference between civil discourse and bullying behavior. Bullying behavior by its very nature is insensitive. But, the overall implication of what EQ is does not always encompass what goes on in bullying behavior. Sometimes the person exhibiting a low EQ doesnt know it or doesnt realize it at the time. When they donât realize it ⦠its up to us as fellow human beings to help them. Not in a bullying manner. Rather in a matter-of-fact manner to tell them. You can ask soft questions to help them realize they may have gone off course. You can ask them things like: Did you really mean that? Is there another way you could state that? How do you want your audience to interpret that? If they donât get it you might have to be more pointed. However, when they do get it ⦠as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella did (with some external guidance) congratulation them. Consider using Kati Quiqleyâs Tip #8 from her 10 Guiding Principles Be direct and specific. Dont just say good job Civil discourse is not overrated As we have seen during this debate season the ability for what would typically be civilized human beings having a civil conversation and discourse has not always been easy for them or the moderators to achieve. Shock and awe may be an interesting way for people to self-aggrandize, but decorum still has a place in modern communications. Strive to have conversations instead of shouting matches. When you can get to the root of an issue and have a true conversation thatâs an indicator that your EQ is being exercised. Here are 5 things you can do to grow your EQ: Practice Empathy â" Be curious about the people around you. Notice how others feel and envision yourself with those feelings. Then react and respond accordingly. Learn How to Say No â" As I wrote in The Response You are Searching for is NO Listen. Wait. Learn You can use LWL to insure you are seeking to fully understand the other personâs intent. Conjure Gratitude â" It can be as simple as saying something you are grateful for at the dinner table (or on social networks if you prefer). The point is ⦠appreciate what you have and consider this in conjunction with point #1. We have a lot more than we think. And, we can give a lot more than we think too! Feedback Matters â" You can only improve if you get accurate feedback. Using points 1 through 4 you can begin to evaluate the feedback you are receiving. If itâs not working ⦠make a change. Whats your EQ story? Who is your role model for EQ behavior? How have you developed your EQ in your life and career? Do you think EQ really helps people grow and stand out in their careers?

Tax Deductions Your Small Business Cant Afford to Miss - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Tax Deductions Your Small Business Canât Afford to Miss - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career As a small business owner, youâre always on the hunt to efficiently save money. Whether youâre a sole proprietor or you operate with a small team, you and your business can benefit from taking the tax deductions you qualify for. Unfortunately, many small business owners arenât aware of what theyâre able to deduct. If you think youâve paid too much in taxes this year, here are some of the top tax deductions you should keep in mind for the future. Knowing what your deductions will be ahead of time can help you properly prepare for tax season. Property Rentals and Equipment Rentals Whether you rent an office, a workspace or a few desks in a co-working community, youâre able to deduct the rent during tax season. You can also deduct rent if you own a storefront, a factory or another brick and mortar facility related to your business. The entire cost of your rent is deductible. The same rules apply if you rent machinery or equipment in your space. The full cost of your rental is deductible as a business expense. Home Office A home office deduction is not the same as renting a space to do work. If you have an office in your home that you use for business purposes, you may be able to deduct a portion of that cost on your taxes. This is especially beneficial for sole proprietors. However, if youâre going to use the home office deduction, be sure that you qualify. Your home office space must be used regularly and exclusively for business. This deduction includes all costs related to your home office. Utilities and Services Whether you operate out of a store, an office or a home office, youâre able to deduct your utilities. This includes your internet, electricity, phone bills and any other utility or service you may need for your business. If you use a home office, you can only deduct the bills that correspond to the amount you work. Unfortunately, you canât get away with deducting your entire home electric bill or internet bill. This also goes if youâre using a personal cell phone. Figure out how many hours a month you use these utilities for strictly business purposes and deduct the appropriate amount. Office Supplies and Equipment Running a small business means you go through a lot of supplies. Luckily, youâre able to fully deduct the cost of the supplies you use to do business. This includes paper, pens, pencils, ink and more. Youâre also able to deduct the cost of the equipment you use to do business. If you need to purchase new computers, printers or other forms of technology to get the job done, you can deduct these expenses come tax season. Advertising and Marketing Software Advertising can quickly become expensive. While digital marketing makes it easier to create an inexpensive marketing plan, you still want to ensure youâre deducting the full cost of anything related to marketing and advertising. This cost includes the subscriptions you have to any software to automate or produce your marketing materials. Any ordinary costs for advertising are fully deductible. Professional Fees If you use an accountant or attorney, youâre able to deduct the costs associated with those services from your business taxes. In fact, hiring a CPA to help with your small business taxes can actually help you save money, even if you need to pay a higher price up front. Professional fees associated with hiring an attorney can also be a tax deduction. If you cross multiple states with your business and therefore need to pay taxes in multiple states, hiring a tax attorney can help you cover all your bases when tax season comes. Travel, Meals and Entertainment If you or an employee is traveling for work, you may be able to deduct the costs related to that trip. Those costs can include meals while youâre gone, the transportation to get there and lodging while youâre away. If youâre traveling for an event or conference, you can also deduct the cost of your ticket. Unfortunately, local transportation costs usually arenât deductible. If youâre meeting with a client for lunch or treating your employees to lunch, you can deduct half of the bill. Taxes It may seem strange to deduct taxes on your taxes, but there are certain taxes youâre able to claim. If you have to pay taxes on the products you sell, youâre able to deduct that amount on your federal taxes. Youâre also able to deduct taxes on your property related to the business. Any fees you need to pay for licenses of property ownership can also be deducted on your taxes. Even though it may be too late to claim these deductions on this yearâs taxes, think about what you may qualify for in the years to come. What deductions have you been missing? Keep this list handy so you donât miss them again next year.

Starting A New Job Remember These Things
Starting A New Job Remember These Things With the job market opening up and seeing people land jobs, it is probably a good idea to remind people how to keep this new job. Starting a new job can be stressful- akin to starting college. You dont know many people and you arent quite sure what to expect. Usually there isnt a mentor or guide assigned to help you understand whats what. So who do you turn to? What can you do to ensure success? Some might be thinking, Ill just do my job really well. That isnt enough. Starting a new job is a new beginning, a clean slate. You can create the right impression without the baggage you were carrying before. Some of your baggage might be good, other baggage should be left behind. Determine what you want to be known for in this new company and job. What reputation do you want to start building? Then begin to learn about the company culture and your new manager. Here are some suggestions: 1) Ask your new manager for a meeting. During this meeting ask about the expectations of the job, time-lines, measurements for success, key players you should meet in the organization, and what pitfalls to avoid. 2) Observe co-workers, who knows who, what are they saying in the break room, how do they behave in front of managers and leaders. 3) Pick your friends. Carefully select the co-workers you chose to affiliate with. Begin building trusting relationships. Now, you can begin doing your job really well. Be a positive person. Be able to find solutions, not excuses. There shouldnt be surprises if youve done athorough job discussing expectations with your manager. However, remember, everything is subject to change. Be resilient. I remember starting a new job once and asking my new manager, What do you expect from me in this new job?. (Not the best question, first of all). The response I got was I dont know. Thats all. I quickly moved on to action items I would be targeting in the new job (again, probably not the right tactic, not being there long enough to know if these were important or not). I got a blank stare in return. What I failed to dowas to develop a relationship. Begin with the soft stuff first, find common ground, learn about each other. Then get on with the job. On Great Leadership there was a post on how to be a good follower! It is filled with great advice.

Writing An Objective For A Nursing Resume Examples
Writing An Objective For A Nursing Resume ExamplesWriting an objective for a nursing resume examples can be the difference between landing that job you've always wanted and possibly even losing it. There are many ways to write this section of your resume, but by following some tips you will be able to show that you have what it takes to do the job.Firstly, you need to define exactly what you will be doing in the position. Do you need to change a great deal or will you merely need to make some small improvements? A good way to achieve this is to think about the 'big picture' of the position.Does the position require the ability to oversee other staff members, manage budgets, build relationships with patients and clients and perform the main responsibility of the position? If you can answer yes to all of these questions then you need to include this in your objectives. An example would be: I am the best-qualified individual to fill the post of clinical nursing manager because I possess a wealth of experience in this role. However, if the position does not have this requirement, then you may want to list a few of your abilities. This will help you relate yourself to the job without saying 'I am the best qualified'. An example of this would be: I am skilled in the medical and surgical care of elderly people with unique health care needs. Again, it is up to you to choose which abilities to include on your resume.Another thing to consider is how many years you will need to spend working at the job. Although not usually required, the longer you have been doing this type of work, the more impressive your experience will be. Try to think about this when the interviewer asks you questions during your interview. For example, you may be asked about your work history or how long you have been in the field.Your main priority should be the employer, rather than who you are interviewing with. An example of this would be: I want to get my career back on track and start to move f orward again. Remember, you are not the boss in the position, so take this seriously.Write your objective in the third person. If you have a specific position, for example: I am recruiting for the position of medical secretary, use this first. However, if you are not sure about the specific position you want to apply for, then use the third person form.Writing an objective for a nursing resume examples will save you time and effort, while showing your interviewer exactly what you can do. Therefore, it is well worth making sure that you have done your research before starting.
